If there’s one thing about personal growth no one tells you:
It’s not just exciting. It’s not just inspiring. It’s uncomfortable as hell.
Because what they don’t tell you is that in order to grow, you have to let go.
And not just of bad habits or toxic relationships—but of entire versions of yourself.
Letting go of who you were means admitting that the person you spent years becoming… doesn’t quite fit anymore.
And that feels off…
Maybe you used to be the overachiever. The people-pleaser. The life of the party.
Maybe you still are. But now it feels… fake. Forced. Exhausting.
You start noticing that the conversations you used to enjoy feel shallow.
The goals you once chased don’t excite you.
The validation doesn’t land like it used to.
This is the in-between.
You’re not who you were.
You’re not yet who you’re becoming.
You’re just… stuck…in between identities.
And it can be confusing.
The hardest part of growth isn’t setting goals or building new habits.
It’s realizing your old life—your job, your routines, your relationships, your friends, even your identity—was built around a version of you that doesn’t exist anymore.
That version of you was having fun, enjoying life, years ago.
But that person isn’t you today. And that person isn’t who you want to be in the future either.
So yeah, you might feel lost.
You might feel broken.
You might feel like you’ve lost friends. People think you’ve changed.
But change is the point.
To grow, you have to let go.
To create space for something new, you have to release the old.
To make time for aligned habits and dreams, you have to stop giving your energy to things that no longer fit.
And yes—sometimes that means seeing less of the people who knew you as someone you no longer are.
Letting go doesn’t mean you’re a bad person.
It means you’re choosing a new identity—and that choice requires a new environment, new boundaries, and new standards.
